Engaging students with multiple hands-on projects

Whether competing to put a robot through a maze or building a solar-powered car, IEEE gives students exciting opportunities to put their engineering knowledge into practice. The group also impacts more than 150 Boy Scouts for Merit Badge Day, helping Scouts learn about soldering, circuit analysis, programming and more.

Working as UCR's largest technical organization focused on computer science

 ACM's key programs include a 1:1 mentor program to help students succeed in what can be a challenging area of study. Through accessible workshops that enhance technical skills, students get a leg up in securing internships with top employers.

Empowering women in technology

Founded only a few years ago by a group of women computer science students, Women in Computing (WINC) had made a big impact at UCR and beyond. Partnering with ACM and the Society of Women Engineers, WINC started Rose Hack, our campus' and the region's first women-centric hackathon that impacts more than 200 attendees every year.

BOURNS SCIENCE AND ENGINEERING DAY EXPANDS STEM OUTREACH ACROSS SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA

Hosted by the college's Society of Women Engineers (SWE), this event has become the largest STEM event in the Riverside County, engaging more than 1,200 students to participate in hands-on engineering activities. Electrical engineering alumna Sirina Nabhan, '17, a project data systems engineer at NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory, was a guest speaker in this year's first virtually held event that reached more schools than ever.

CAMPUS' FIRST ENDOWMENT FOR A STUDENT ORGANIZATION IN SUPPORT OF BLACK ENGINEERS

In partnership with the National Society of Black Engineers and the Council for the Advancement of Black Engineers, we launched the campus' first endowed fund in support of a student organization, which will provide scholarship and professional development opportunities for Black engineering students in perpetuity.
